South Korea has made a late start in the build up of PT systems after the havoc of the 2nd World War. This meant that the country was able to introduce the latest technologies without being obstructed by what is called “hindrance of existing technologies”. There was not much left of the pre-war railway system. So this was a perfect basis to introduce the latest engineering idea’s and applications.


The KIMM Institute in Daejeon has played a leading role in this process. Especially Transit Technologies have benefited. Today South Korea has one of the most advanced PT systems in the world. For this reason this Fact Finding Tour will be of great value to professionals active in Rail-bound PT.
